Entering the BISAs

It is free to enter the British International School Awards (BISAs). The information here will help you to prepare your entry. When you have read this information, click the “Enter” button (suspended now that entries are closed for this year) and select the category you wish to enter.

The awards celebrate achievements in our sector and whose results have borne fruit during the past academic year. They are open to all British international schools. We define “British” as those schools that follow all or part of the English national curriculum and have a “British character” in the school. The judges’ decision on this qualification is final.

All entries must be submitted online. Your entry must address the criteria set out for that particular category. You may add up to three sets of supporting materials as PDFs or Word documents; each must be no longer than two sides of A4.

Your submission must contain robust information; include relevant facts and figures or testimonials where possible.

You may enter no more than three categories; a separate submission must be supplied for each one.

The categories your school could enter

  • Outstanding Individual Contribution to International Education
  • Outstanding Strategic Initiative
  • Outstanding Community Initiative
  • Outstanding Pastoral Care Initiative
  • Outstanding Initiative to support Student Safeguarding
  • Outstanding Initiative leading to Creativity in Learning
  • Outstanding Teaching Initiative
  • Outstanding Digital Technology Initiative
  • International Impact award
  • Outstanding Senior Leadership Team of the Year

In addition, there is an award for the British International School of the Year 2018, chosen by judges from one of the winners of the other categories.

Where a project is in collaboration with a third party, it must be clear that the submitting school was key in the success of the project. The award will be made to that school only, and not the third party.

On completion of the form, you will receive an email with a unique ID number which will be emailed to you. Please use this ID number in any correspondence. If you have additional information you wish to submit such as photos, please send those separately to, indicating the ID number for the entry.

The winners will be announced at a gala ceremony at the Grand Connaught Rooms in London on 22 January 2018.

Each shortlisted school receives a logo that they can use on their website and stationery that shows their shortlisting in a particular category. This alone is very useful for marketing to potential parents as a sign of quality.

They receive three complimentary tickets to the gala event held in London’s West End. Should they win, they will be presented with a trophy, and will be considered for the prestigious British International School of the Year award.
